Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection that

What is Perio Protect?
This medical device is a set of custom fabricated
Perio Protect Trays that are easy to use and comfortable to wear.
The Perio Protect Trays use varying thicknesses of material to provide a seal that guides a special
antimicrobial gel into the infected areas. The seal maintains
the medication below the gumline for a sufficient period of time to control the bacteria causing the
infection. As healing occurs, patients alter the frequency and
duration that they wear their trays.
How It Works
Impressions are taken and the models sent to a special lab that fabricates the custom
made trays. These are somewhat like bleaching trays. They are thin, soft, and comfortable.
A special gel is placed inside of your custom-made
trays. This gel seeps above and below the gum line eliminating
bacteria and softening calculus. As long as the tray fits properly
you will not notice the gel leaking into the rest of the mouth.
Based on the doctor’s diagnosis, you will be instructed on the frequency and duration of wear. The entire treatment is done in the comfort of your own home. This unique treatment may also whiten your teeth and will freshen your
breath.
At your regularly scheduled hygiene visits, our hygienist will gently remove any
remaining softened deposits and evaluate the progress of your healing. Your dental visits will be quick, easy, and painless.
